This is a foundation/beginner level reformer class, catering to a maximum of 2 people. The reformer is a specialised Pilates exercise machine, which enhances mat exercises through adjustable spring resistance, hand and feet straps provide support for proper alignment and body awareness, and allows clients to find control and precision in movements they may not have found on the mat. A reformer session is ideal for building strength and co-ordination in a low-impact and supported way.
Is this class for me?
Of course! Reformer Pilates is fun, but to get the best value and most benefit from the class, it is ideal that participants have attended at least two (2) mat classes and the Reformer Welcome class so you are familiar with the Pilates method, common cues and descriptors. It is also good if you have a reasonable range of mobility but a foundation class will include variations to cater for different levels of fitness, strength and ability. The class flows at a steady, but supportive pace.
This class is not suitable if you are recovering from surgery, injury or experiencing more complex mobility limitations, our private or semi-private tailored sessions may suit you better, please reach out if you have any questions as Pilates is for every body.
What do you need for the class?
Grip socks (for safety and hygiene)
Comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely - leggings are especially preferred for the reformer as baggy pants may get caught in the springs)
Small towel and water bottle (water is available in the class)
Feel free to bring phones, but please turn to silent so you can give 100% attention to your body.
