An intermediate level mat class for a maximum of 3 people. This is a structured class that flows at a slightly faster pace with more fluid transitions between exercises and less detailed instruction on joint/limb placement, building on the Pilates foundations with more complex movements, focusing on greater control, deep core strength, flexibility, balance and strengthening your mind-body connection. Props such as the magic circle, foam roller, weights, TheraBand, resistance band or chi ball may be included, and variations offered for further progression or modifications for minor mobility limitations.
Is this class for you?
If you are feeling ready to progress to the next level, then it sure is! To get the best value and most benefit from this class, it is ideal that participants have an understanding of fundamental Pilates principles (covered in beginner/foundation classes), are able to perform beginner level Pilates exercises with correct form and are familiar with the Pilates method, common cues and descriptors. It is also ideal if you have a reasonable level of physical strength that allows weight bearing on knees, shoulders or wrists (eg. kneeling or planking) and ease of mobility for exercises that require torso rotation or inversion exercises (where your hips lift above your heart and/or head).
This class is not suitable if you are recovering from surgery, injury or experiencing more complex mobility limitations, our private or semi-private tailored sessions may suit you better, please reach out if you have any questions as Pilates is for every body.
What do you need for the class?
Grip socks (for safety and hygiene)
Comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely - leggings are especially preferred for the reformer as baggy pants may get in the way of easy movement)
Small towel and water bottle (water is available in the class)
Feel free to bring phones, but please turn to silent so you can give 100% attention to your body.
