An introduction to performing Pilates exercises on a reformer.

If you have never tried Pilates before you are required to have attended the Mat Welcome class to have an understanding of the core principles of Pilates before transitioning to the Reformer (please see more information below if this class is right for you).

This class will run through foundation exercises which reflect the core principles of Pilates learned on the mat - centering, concentration, control, precision, breath, and flow. These principles, developed by Joseph Pilates, encourage quality of movement over quantity to improve posture, flexibility, stability, and development of a strong mind-body connection, with focus on breathing techniques, core engagement and spinal alignment.

If this is your first class with Lightform, you will be required to complete a client registration form which will ask you to detail any injuries, areas of concern or mobility issues along with why you are interested in Pilates and the goals you have for your body - the form will be emailed to you after your appointment has been booked.

Is this class for you?
Pilates on the reformer is fun! But, it is not the best place to learn Pilates for the first time. If you have never been introduced to Pilates, you will be required to attend the Mat Welcome class before moving on to the reformer, which ensures you get the most benefit from the session.

This class is not suitable if you are recovering from surgery, injury or experiencing more complex mobility limitations, our private or semi-private tailored sessions may suit you better, please reach out if you have any questions as Pilates is for every body.

What do you need for the class?

  • Grip socks (for safety and hygiene)

  • Comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely - leggings are especially preferred for the reformer as baggy pants may get caught in the springs)

  • Small towel and water bottle (water is available in the class)

  • Feel free to bring phones, but please turn to silent so you can give 100% attention to your body.

Important information
You are required to let the instructor know if you have any injuries or concerns about your body before participating in the class, please ensure you are familiar with our waiver of liability and have completed your client registration form.

Cost + Duration
This class costs $15.00 and runs for 45 minutes, please arrive 10 minutes early.
